Symbols + Icons
For this project, I designed a series of symbols and icons to visually represent specific emotions. These included nostalgia, confusion, anticipation, fascination, and passion.
Software Used
Ai, Ps, Id
Project Type
Icon Design

Ideation Process
Team-Based Ideation & Execution
As a team of five, we worked under a three-hour time limit to complete both the ideation and final design for the emotion-based symbols. We began by creating a chart that matched potential symbols to each emotion, helping us organize our ideas and identify visual connections. From there, we sketched and refined the concepts collaboratively to create clear, expressive icons

Approach
Evolving Concepts
After the initial sketches, each team member created their own vectorized versions of the icons. As we compared our designs, we realized there was room to push the concepts further, shifting away from literal representations toward more abstract, symbolic forms. We later refined the project independently, developing new sketches that leaned more toward graphic symbols rather than emoticons, giving each emotion a more thoughtful and conceptual visual identity.

Final Results
Refining to Completion
The final icon set turns emotions into bold, graphic symbols that feel thoughtful without being too literal. Each icon was designed to be simple, expressive, and easy to recognize, creating a clean, cohesive way to represent different feelings across the project.
